Angela Dekort - a unique country/folkish songwriter blending well-crafted lyrics with memorable melodies.
Welcome to my page, and thanks for checking out my music! My music is a little bit country, some pop, some rock, some folk. I've been in bands before (playing mostly drums, a little guitar), but not right now; instead, I'm focussing on songwriting. If you enjoy any of these (free) songs, please drop me an email telling me so. Money would be great, but hearing from someone who appreciates my work would be great too. :-) I'm not the best singer in the world, usually getting others to perform my songs, so you get to hear a variety of voices with my music. Baker was a band I was in a few years ago in which I did a lot of songwriting. We put together a decent CD giving me some of the higher quality cuts you see here. The rest are a product of my home studio. Enjoy!

Story behind the song
Tried to avoid writing a hymn--wanted to come up with something a little more modern and fresh. My own Ode to Joy. Recorded by Baker at Past Infinity Recorders, Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada, May 1999.
Lyrics
take the ice cream vendor of my deepest spirit where the summer season of my soul knows its full expression & on a day when business is slow show her the plastic pools & water drops like jewels by chalkmarks on sidewalks so i may be filled with the sun & the splendour of creation i want to play in your painting take a part in your play i want to run through your spinkler that's watering this day create in me the passion the love that you had to fashion this summer poem this song you give this novel world in which i live take this hand i'm holding make it a metaphor for the time i'm taking with the sweet treat of a popsicle & being here with you is a moment to be savoured there's no artificial flavour it's just as real as the zeal of god-the-artist's six day dream that was the world's first miracle
