How to Let Go (Ver2)

It's about being in that place between realizing you need to break up with someone and actually doing so. It's about a heart pulled in two directions.

Waiting (Ver 2)

This is a song about trying to figure out whether or not it is worth it to "wait" for someone.

A Long Year (Ver 2)

This was written after the sudden unexpected break up I experienced with my ex. It's pretty cynical, laced with a mere touch of optimism.

Sometimes Love

About seeing someone who is lonely and really deserves to be with someone, and the time before said someone is found. This version by Angela Dekort: Vocals-Neil Reade; Guitar-Angela Dekort
Welcome to my page, and thanks for checking out my music! My music is a little bit country, some pop, some rock, some folk. I've been in bands before (playing mostly drums, a little guitar), but not right now; instead, I'm focussing on songwriting. If you enjoy any of these (free) songs, please drop me an email telling me so. Money would be great, but hearing from someone who appreciates my work would be great too. :-) I'm not the best singer in the world, usually getting others to perform my songs, so you get to hear a variety of voices with my music. Baker was a band I was in a few years ago in which I did a lot of songwriting. We put together a decent CD giving me some of the higher quality cuts you see here. The rest are a product of my home studio. Enjoy!
Band/artist history
I've been making up songs since I was little, and I started to set them to music at the end of high school when I began learning guitar. These days I write mostly on guitar, but occasionally on keys too. I pay my bills by working as a school teacher, and I pursue my calling by writing poetry and songs. Check out my bio and poetry at
Your musical influences
Stevie Nicks, John Mellencamp, Carolyn Arends, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Billy Joel, Counting Crows, Paul Simon, Barenaked Ladies, Indigo Girls, Fleetwood Mac, Amanda Marshall, Melissa Etheridge, Sarah MacLachlan. Not that my music necessarily sounds like theirs---just that I admire them greatly and have tried to learn from them.
Anything else?
Other than a few weeks of drum lessons a few years ago, I've never had any formal training. (Unless music class in elementary school counts.) I hold a B.A. Honours and a M.A. in English Literature, as well as a B.Ed.
