This is my cover of a great Ray Davis song by The Kinks. It's a song from their, 'The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society' album (LP). Their next album (LP) would be, 'Arthur (and the decline of the British Empire)

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
I've always enjoyed the very 'Britishness' of the Kinks and Ray's quirky lyrics that highlight the 'ordinary' life that we can all relate to. I've already recorded my own cover of 'Victoria' and this is a great and worthy companion piece to it. This is from their classic pop concept album period. An era where the whole song itself was the hook and not a flashy guitar solo. So, a great song to play and sing (apart from one or two high notes!) :) I used my Yamaha Pacifica PAC 303-12 string guitar and a Fender Squire Telecaster Custom on this recording. I recorded everything into a Zoom R-24 digital workstation and then transferred the files into my ancient DAW... Adobe Audition (1.5) to mix and master it all.

Ah, this is nice, David! A very fine version, that really captures the essence of British music in the 1960's, but also bears your personal trademark. Great guitars and overall fresh and very likeable mood in this. Love it!

Excellent cover of a great classic! I love the quirkiness and the way Ray Davies would provide a little insight into people's every day life. Great job on getting the high notes - I remember Ray Davies always said that if things had to be quite high he always had Dave Davies to sing those bits. Really enjoyed your version - a very uplifting nostalgic trip!
