Started back in 1997 by lead rap artist and co producer, Jay P, Upstate Records has grown to have 15 people currently signed to the independent label. The label contains artists from NY, and CT currently.Band/artist history
In 1997 Jay P started writing during school hours, then, as time passed Jay P moved to New York where he met Guy T, a local Emcee. The two then began looking for more emcees to join their click, which later turned into Upstate Records. In late 2001, Upstate Records rushed into the studio and produced 4 underground albums by the end of the year. Though the sound quality and flow was quite weak at the time, and the artists were merely trying to find there place, Upstate Records had not given up, and today are working on a new Mix Tape to be released showing how they have grown as individuals and as artists.Have you performed in front of an audience? No live shows as of yet.
