Smalltown
Indie Track | Smalltown by Andy Jones | Free Download
This song is about the horrors of a Saturday night in a typical town in the UK...
Melodic indie pop-rock with sun drenched vocals.
Hello, I am the band!
I'm a singer-songwriter and I'm a bit of a control freak, hence I do everything myself - playing the intruments, writing the lyrics, singing, recording, you name it!
I recorded the latest of these songs on my PC but the older ones were recorded on a 4 track tape recorder (I'm planning to re-record some of them with the new improved technology - if only I can find the time!)
UPDATE: New batch of songs added in June 2006
Independent artist Andy Jones drops "Smalltown", an Indie track on SoundClick. It is the kind of track that finds the right moment to make itself heard. The Manchester influence comes through clearly, making this especially appealing to indie fans. "Smalltown" can be used royalty-free with a Creative Commons license, making it freely accessible for sync, content, and creative projects.
Story behind the song
I come from a small town in North Wales. This song recounts some of the 'characters' I mingled with during my formative years. When I think back to all those nights spent in awful pubs and clubs... well I shudder!
Lyrics
Dancefloor is jumping,
The Cavemen and their prey dry-humping,
It’s Saturday night and I’m feeling far from alright.
I’m stuck in a goldfish bowl,
The kind of place that will suck your soul,
A triumph of apathy, low expectations mediocrity.
Chorus
I wanna run, run-away far from this place,
And feel like part of the human race,
Away from narrow minded louts,
Who have no thoughts and have no doubts,
I wanna show you the beauty that is all around,
If you could only escape from this no-horse town.
See the dirty old men,
Drinking beer and alcopops,
Chasing after teenage girls,
And hoping for a screw in the bogs.
It’s a small-town love,
Not like you see in the films,
It’s hoping not to be alone,
When the lights come on and it’s time to go home.
Chorus
The dancefloor is empty,
The cavemen outside,
They’re looking for some food,
a shag or maybe just a fight.
In time they’ll grow old,
And they’ll settle down,
Then it’ll be their children,
Every Saturday night in the same old town.
Chorus x 2
