Life Life
A delicate, piano based rumination on this wonderful, fleeting thing we call Life. Featuring the highest falsetto I've ever been able to perform!

Stay Stay
A laid back tune featuring another falsetto lead vocal by Andy Jones (listen out for the three-part harmonies on the bridge)

Hello, I am the band!
I'm a singer-songwriter and I'm a bit of a control freak, hence I do everything myself - playing the intruments, writing the lyrics, singing, recording, you name it!
I recorded the latest of these songs on my PC but the older ones were recorded on a 4 track tape recorder (I'm planning to re-record some of them with the new improved technology - if only I can find the time!)
UPDATE: New batch of songs added in June 2006
Band/artist history
I started writing snippets of music in the late 90's but didn't really take it seriously until I bought a four track recorder in late 2003. I use a keyboard for my drums and bass and occasional piano and play all the guitar parts. I started devoting more and more time to writing original material early in 2004 and the results of these sessions can be found on this website...
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I occasionally get up and play at parties etc, but have never played a formal gig (I don't have a band so it makes it kinda difficult)
Your musical influences
Brian Wilson, The Beatles, Grandaddy, Super Furry Animals, White Stripes, REM, Pixies, Flaming Lips.
What equipment do you use?
I use 2 Yamaha keyboards, Electric Guitar, and Acoustic Guitar.
Anything else?
Please feel free to send me an e-mail (andywjones24@fsmail.net) if you'd like to contact me or receive a copy of my Demo CD.

Hey Andy, Really nice stuff. Beautiful falsetto. Love to hear this stuff with a hint less reverb, but maybe that's just my speakers. Melody and chords on "Life" are very nice.
If you ever get the chance, check out some Malibus music - you might like some of the Pet Sounds/Smile influenced stuff.
BTW, found your music because of a post you made at Johnny Procter's site - keep up the good work!
Andy:
Yes, I double tracl all the parts one by one, then i mix them down with EQ, compression, delay and reverb. I am an unabashed Brian Wilson devotee, and his style of arranging ("open harmony" - opening the distance between 4-part harmony parts) is the holy grail I seek which I have touched but not mastered (see my "Conceived in Love" - more of a Four Freshmen tribute). I think you'd be able to do wonders if you had a better recording set up to use. You have a very loving sound, very humble and creative, and the world needs that. Thanks for listening, let's keep in touch!

Andy, "Life" is beautiful. Your sparse arrangement is perfect. I am hearing all kinds of harmonic ideas when i hear it. Wow, I wish i had been there, I would have loved to layer some 4-parts aaahhs behind your beautiful falsetto. Man this is great stuff! I'm adding Life to my radio station. This is a unique melody and very cool chord changes. I really, really like your melody. Well done! Beautiful, reminds me a bit of Warmth of the Sun and Surf's Up. Very, very nice! I think you would like my song, "Hey (Heaven Knows)"...
Your fan,
Johnny
Andy, Paul Mc told me to check you out. Your voice sounds heavenly on "Mr. Wilson. I can't believe you even had the guts to tackle Good Vibrations! Wow! You do an awesome job of track bouncing to get all those sounds down to just four tracks. I do the same but I cheat because I dump my raw tracks to my PC and do digital editing by software. I am a fellow Brian disciple, and I would be delighted if you sampled a couple of my tunes.
