acoustic & vocal...stripped down and rythmic, the groove goes deep on this one
Toby Brady plays a blend of acoustic alternative rock and blues, influences ranging from R.E.M. to Johnny Cash. With a strong emphasis on rhythm and melody.
Band/artist history
Toby Brady is a songcrafter.
He grew up in a small town in Wyoming, then, throwing fate into the wind, moved to Seattle, and soon found himself in the beginning of the Seattle scene before it exploded on the rest of the world. Dandilyon Soup was playing shows with such bands as Alice in Chains, Soundgarden & Screaming Trees.
Dandilyon Soup's fanbase continued to grow as the band toured the country. They produced 2 CD's with Pearl Jams engineer Brett Eliason. Recorded in Seattle's famous studio "Bad Animals".
When Dandilyon Soup disbanded, Toby hit the road solo acoustic, doing 20 shows a month for 5 months at a time.
Toby has recorded two Cds as a solo acoustic performer,Live At The OK Hotel and A Boy and His Dogma recorded in his home studio, playing most of the instruments himself.
Currently, Toby has acted the lead role in an independent film Entertain the Moon and writing material for the soundtrack. www.entertainthemoon.com
.......Here is what some writers had to say.... ************************************************** Singer/songwriter tOby practically pours out his soul during live performances, the effect is captured nicely on this disc. There is something honest and sedative about the groove of this music Gail Jean McCracken (Urban Spelunker)

Have you performed in front of an audience?
yes i play live, special moments??...well i was playing a solo acoustic set and a full-on bar brawl broke out right in front of the stage when a over-zealous fan was having a little too much fun and a couple other people told him to shut up....i just kept playing trying not to laugh and calling for security over the mic between verses.
um...there was no security...the guy was dragged out by a couple of patrons determined to keep the peace....other than that...when my band Dandilyon Soup played for 50,000+ people as the headlining act for the Seattle Hempfest. And we opened for Soundgarden...that was cool.
Your musical influences
As a kid growing up in Sundance Wyoming, i listened to outlaw country like Waylon & Willie, Merle Haggard, Don Williams,
and of course ELVIS!!!...then, i found AC-DC and
the rest is history. I guess some of the tunes on this website would be me coming "back to my roots" more americanna and
stripped down, more acoustic. With the acception of Shimmer and Fade, that was more like a beast that needed to be exorsized. it came out beautiful..but painful none-the-less.
What equipment do you use?
my trusty acoustic guitar.."Firewood"
i love that hunk-o-wood.
and my "Isabella-caster" has never let me down.
plug that straight into my vintage Fender Blues Deluxe.
Do you think its weird that i name my guitars??
or that i talk to them like they can hear me..??
Anything else?
I want to make the kind of music that will stand the test of time. Not be out dated like so many stylists or trendies, just good solid music.
So far this is what it is, simple, catchy tunes that reflect the people, places and things that i experience on my journey to...???????
I hope you enjoy this slice of my world... thank you for supporting independant arts.... -tOby-

Have to agree why Star Cannon and Empty Pockets put you on top. If they are any indication of 'what is yet to come' look out. Great work. Should you have a chance, drop by sometime for a listen, would love to hear what you think.
Toby- so many years gone by and still I think your one of the most amazing humans I know (always have)
It was just finally time to find you again I guess.
So I want to get a CD, but I do not like to purchase stuff on line, any other options? I still have all of my Soup stuff and I pull it out once in a while.....still some of my all time favorites!
I miss seeing you play, do you do any open mic night's around the area?
SO very glad I ended up at the High Dive Saturday night!
Blessings, Shakti ( Shelly )
Hey Toby:
Nice job with "Drive All Night." Good restless rambling lyrics I can relate to. Perfect song for late night cruising. Gets a HOT vote from me.
Check out my alternative originals at my site, especially the psychedelic "If I Only Had A Brain (remix)", currently at #24 on the Classic Rock charts. Cast your vote and spread some good karma.
Keep up the awesome work.
Peace,
BILL WRIGHT
