It's just me...and a few friends. Hi - I'm Tobin. I write and sing songs. Most of my songs are written on with the acoustic guitar and then transposed to other instruments. I tend to write songs with a story/background. I think it's important to put thought into making music. It's not just a bunch words thrown together or some crappy melody. It's something I actually thought about.
I know that when you really listen, you'll hear what I have to say.
This is the first time I have embarked on my own. Thank god for music production software so I can create songs the way I hear them in my head. I've played with a few bands, but its so hard to keep everyone on the same page. People just tend to wander from place to place in their lives and it's tough to have all the players agree upon the same goal at the same time.
I play in the Washington DC / Baltimore area. I like it, but I enjoy writing much more. The creation process is what keeps me going.
This is strange, but I like Earth, Wind and Fire and KISS. It probably has nothing to do with my writing style. Oh...and I actually like ABBA. I saw Mama Mia. I've got problems.
I use a Takamine acoustic guitar, Shure mics, Beyerdynamic headphones and software like FL Studio, Sonar and Sound Forge.
I have a cat named Jasper. He likes me and my music. I hope you do to.
One more thing. When I play out, or when you listen - I get comments like "you sound like this person". OK - It is usually someone who is popular at the time. I usually say -"Do you like that person" and they always say "YES". One time a woman said I sound like Elvis -WTF??? She did, however, tell me later that Elvis is her favorite. Then it's alright by me. "Thank you very much"
