Have you performed in front of an audience?
I was recently Artist in Residence at Cameron University in Oklahoma. I have a house gig at Central 111 in Va. Beach, Va. Currently the trio is based out of Norfolk, Va. but travels to Jazz Festivals and Venues all over the country and to the Czech Republic this fall. You can bet your life I love it otherwise I would have given this venture up along time. I think one of the most special moments I can recall is when we were performing a 2nd line New Orleans tune. An old man who could barely walk jumped up and started dancing as if he had youthful legs. This caused the whole audience to become part of the experience and really gave us a connection. I like to see how my music effects people and the prophet from all of the hard work as an independent artist.
Your musical influences
My influences come from all roots but to name a few: Bill Evans, Michelle Camilo, Keith Jarrett, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Byron Berline, Oscar Peterson, Clifford Brown, Dexter Gordon and many others as well.
What equipment do you use?
I prefer a Steinway Grand but on gigs where a piano is not available the Yamaha P120 is the perfect board with hammer action weighted keys and perfect grand piano samples, plus the board has a classy look to it.
