Ticklish Brother is a 2-person band, formed in 1996 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. The core of our music is acoustic guitar and harmony vocals, combined with offbeat writing. It's fun music to make you happy! We believe in energy, commitment, authenticity, beauty, and raw vitality in music, and both our performances and CD attempt to say 'no thank you' to the compromises and bleaching of big-money commercial mainstream music. We hope you will be pleasantly surprised. Please check out our website for further information and the latest news. Thank you very much. Enjoy!Band/artist history
Ticklish Brother formed in 1996 while both members were in their first year of the BFA Theatre program at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Two friends who get along really well, Byron and Justin began writing and performing songs together, developing a very loyal and appreciative local audience. We have a huge amount of fun writing and developing our songs, and love to perform to such enthusiastic audiences as we have been fortunate to have. Some highlights include two appearances on CBC Radio's Madly Off In All Directions, with Lorne Elliott. Our first CD, entitled "Practicality At Its Maximum" was released October 13, 2000. It was lovingly produced by Justin, and appears on the fledgling label Very Nice Records. A new album is in the works.Have you performed in front of an audience? We love playing live, though we haven't in some time, since we've been living in different parts of the country. We are working on some recordings toward the release of a new CD, tentatively in 2008. We've had a lot of great shows, and some of our favourites were our appearances on CBC Radio, both on local Morning Shows and the nationally broadcast Madly Off In All Directions with Lorne Elliott. We've also had memorable performances at conferences, poetry festivals, and private parties. In January 2007, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the band with a concert in Cambridge, Ontario, and in November we ran a music-video-making workshop at the Labrador Creative Arts Festival in Goose Bay, Labrador.
Your musical influences
Our musical influences are extremely varied. Byron grew up with a lot of rock -- everything from the Beatles to Slayer. Justin, on the other hand, grew up with a lot of British Folk (Pentangle, Bert Jansch), medieval and classical music. Other influences include music of pretty much every style from all over the world. We just love music!kid b's station
