A Frozen Farewell... A Frozen Farewell...
A farewell to you all as I drown in the cold black nothingness of the Arctic Ocean....
My name is Christopher A. Martinez and I'm of the band Thrymheim. The music I make can best be described as "other". It has an ambient feel to it, but I also incorporate classical elements as well as a little bit of folk, although I have another project for folk (Endgultige Schlacht). I currently have a demo out, entitled "Nature's Calling". I, looking back, don't like it particularily because I think I went to fast on making it, although I do get positive feedback from those who have heard it. The demo is available for $2. I am also working on another right now, entitled "Cold, Dark, & Perpetual". For now I have Cold Abyssal Realm, Frigid Miasma, Beyond The Cathedral Shadows, A Frozen Farewell..., and Probing The Universe.
Band/artist history
In late 2005, I got into black metal. Raw, dark, unholy black metal. Bands like Behexen, Leviathan, Crebain, Gorgoroth, etc. I thought I was awesome too! Well, I would have to say that it did make me a unique individual, because people in my school thought that Cradle Of Filthymusic was still black metal and Demon Burger (Dimmu Borgir) was black metal. One day, I got "Nordland I & II" from Bathory, and that started the "folk revolution" in my life. I eventually picked up more stuff of the like, such as Falkenbach, Enslaved, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Menhir, etc. With this also came inspiration. Great inspiration. I started making music. My first full "good" song was Sessrumnir. Looking back now it sucks though, but it would be awesome if I remade it. This was early 2006. I picked Thrymheim back up (earlier named "Immortal Carpathia" in my BM days). I have somewhat reverted to a little black metal nowadays, but only depressive black metal bands like Nocturnal Supremacy, Drifason, Northern Myst, Tomb Of... (Sort of depressive), and bands like that. No Satanic stuff.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I do not play live.
Your musical influences
My greatest inspiration is Mother Earth and her true, natural beauty. But I draw influence from bands of all genres. UnderOATH (yes, I like Emo and Screamo), Silverstein, Falkenbach, Menhir, Drifason, Waohmggds, Symbiosis, Ensiferum, B.B. King, Louis Armstrong, Oingo Boingo, Modern English, Nirvana, Beethoven, The Clash, Crass, Dead Kennedy's, Bob Marley, Damien Marley, Alicia Keys, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Public Enemy, Tupac, and the list goes on.
What equipment do you use?
FL Studio Pro 5, Buzz Modular Synth, and a Yamaha YPT-300 Keyboard
Anything else?
I am Christian! I love God, Jesus, the world, and life! I am dedicated (taken from my father's words) to making a positive change in this world. I also think that Satanism is stupid, because it was only created as a reaction to Christianity.
