Band/artist history
Rip Wright, Elliott Scott and Earl DaWayne, three best friends, decided to leave the comfort of their Denver, Colorado home and headed straight for Los Angeles, California to further their music career. These three artists have a love for music that bonds them together. Theyve spent years honing their craft, learning to play various instruments, while creating songs which quickly became the sound of IIIrd Degree. IIIrd Degree has a uniquely creative sound and to categorize them would be a crime. After hearing the R&B/Pop vocals and the Rock&Roll guitar solo with a jazz tempo, you would definitely have to create a new music category for them called incredible! All three members play, write, sing, and produce as a team, while adding their own special individual touch. RIP WRIGHT, known as the music man, does the music arrangements for IIIrd Degree, he was first introduced into the music industry at age 9. Determined to be the best, Rip took 1st place in the Iowa State Guitar Championship. Rips incredible talents come from his formal training at the Professional Music Center of Des Moines and the Colorado Institute of Music. ELLIOTT SCOTT, who does the vocal arrangement, is the son of an opera singer; he started in theater, music, and the arts at an early age of 7. His incredibly flavorful vocals were definitely inherited. Elliott can sing you a love song, pick you up with it, wrap you up in a moment, then gently set you down and send you on your way. EARL DaWayne, who is the executive producer for IIIrd Degree, broke into the entertainment business loving the stage. Earl bought together his powerful vocals and his passion for acting in the musical lead role in Godspell. Earls production skills began when he co-wrote, produced, and performed the score for the critically acclaimed anti-gang film Cold Chillin. IIIrd Degree, has mesmerized audiences throughout the entire Western United States. They continue to capture fans with their busy schedule, playing venues throughout the West Coast. Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, playing live is our strength. It took a long time for us to capture our live show on tape, in fact, we still sound better live than on any recording thus far. Although our CD "Bring Back the Love", comes close. Right now we are touring various Borders Books and Music Stores in California, it helps us to move our product, and we like the atmosphere. Our music is driven by our vocals and 3 acoustic guitars, so Borders works out great. We also will play at various Coffee Shops around L.A., in fact, we will be playing at Lucy Florences Coffee Shop in Leimert Park frequently. We opened for Rick Springfield in Mission Viejo, Ca. this pass summer, and that was great!!! Playing in front of that big of an audience is better, well as good as, making love.
