Punk

We are a classic punk tribute band from Macclesfield in the North West of England. We play the music that we all love and grew up with, some with our own twist of madness, some as faithfully as only we can.
Band/artist history
PART ONE #1996 - 1997 Vox-Jaw-X, Bass-Max Hybrid, Guitar-Fred-X, Guitar-Roll-X, Drums-Rex Vubay The Urban Terrorists started life in Macclesfield, Cheshire (which is where they still are) back in 1996 as an experiment in noise by Jaw-X, Max Hybrid and Fred-X, it was a wayward affair with the band not really knowing what direction to go in, sort of a mix between old school blues rock, punk and heavy metal. Live they were just as confused as the audience who showed up, the set was too across the board' and with the original songs penned by Max ranging from melodic wistfulness to raging punk the band struggled to find an identity. The only thing identifiable was the use of X's in the bands stage names, which, to this day, no-one in the band really knows where that stemmed from, but fridge magnets played a part apparently! The first line up self destructed after a mere six months on the road leaving Jaw-X retiring forever from music and Max and Fred pursuing other projects. PART TWO #1999 - 2000 Vox-Albert Rox, Bass-Max Hybrid, Guitar-Fred-X, Drums-Baron Von Marx Two years later a chance meeting reunited Max and Fred, got them thinking and formed a fresh four piece under the Urban Terrorists banner. This line up was again plagued by the awful cross section of genres and to prove they had not learned anything by the last time even included Max's songs again. The band were taking themselves far too seriously, a point that everyone now agrees upon when discussing these times. Soon enough after a few gigs the band once again split up with everyone moving to pastures new and trying to forget about the Urban Terrorists. It was around this time that Max joined a punk covers band in Staffordshire for fun but found it to be a lot more, sold out venues, hordes of people, great reviews and the occasional free beer or two would come back to influence him four years later (i.e. a formula that WORKS!) PART THREE #2004 NOW Vox-Max Hybrid, Bass-Fourex, Guitar-Doctor X, Drums-Baron Von Marx, Guitar-Stampax In a surprise move Max Hybrid decided to ditch everything about the old band and form a brand new Urban Terrorists featuring The Baron again (ex Violators), Doctor X (ex Yo Yo's), Stampax (ex Macc Lads)and Fourex (ex Earth vs). This time the lads concentrated on focusing purely on punk covers, none of the silly original tunes Max wrote years ago (subsequently he hasn't been able to write anything since, and not for the lack of trying either, which is just as well considering!) and the blues/classic rock covers also went to the wall thankfully. This time the band has a focal point and a specific audience in mind, punks, but not your run of the mill punks but a more discerning' headbanger, someone who knows his Upstart' from his Reject', indeed a good portion of the set is devoted to tracks that wouldn't normally feature in a covers set, such as GARAGELAND by THE CLASH , POLICE CAR by the COCKNEY REJECTS and FUCKED UP AND WASTED by the ANTI NOWHERE LEAGUE, but always keeping a stock of standards in reserve like TOMMY GUN by THE CLASH , BORSTAL BREAKOUT by SHAM 69 , NEW ROSE by the DAMNED , ROCKAWAY BEACH by the RAMONES and NO FEELING by the SEX PISTOLS to name only a few.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Love playing live, thats what we are all about, a band like ourselves doesnt live to record and release because we would rather encourage people to go and buy the originals of the songs we play than pay for a covered version by us. At the moment we are playing mostly around the North West, sometimes venturing into Staffordshire, soon however we will be branching forth and taking in as many far flung places as possible. As regards special moments there was a gig recently where we played in a cowshed on a farm for that villages annual fun day, very bizarre, even more so because next door was a chicken coop and grown women were dancing with VERY small children to some pretty filthy material! (although we did clean it up a 'bit')
Your musical influences
Theres simply loads, mine personally would be stuff like Anti Nowhere League, Cockney Rejects, Sham 69 and more recently Backyard Babies, but the band has many like Ramones, Nine Inch Nails, Wildhearts, even Kiss.
