The Tricycle Wipeout is that painful place where innocence meets pavement for the first time. Initially a solo acoustic project to showcase the songs of Matt Young, TTW is now a power trio, though Matt Young Will continue to work songs out and put up solo demos.

Band/artist history
TTW started as a solo project for Matt Young. Playing guitar since '95, Young has been writing songs on it for almost that long, playing for friends or at certain places uncommercially.
The Tricycle Wipeout was next a power trio, also featuring Mark Heaps of San Jose's Point 3 on drums and Jack Schultz on bass. This was the lineup on the 4-song demo.
Currently back to basics while looking for a drummer and bassist.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We do play around the Bay Area in California, with plans to play out of the area.
And any time I don't pop a string or swap verses is a special moment, *laugh*.
Your musical influences
Intense, but melodic music. Songs from the heart and gut. Bands that have something to say. A Perfect Circle, Tool, Alice in Chains, Jerry Cantrell, Smashing Pumpkins, Counting Crows, Pedro the Lion, Radiohead, Nirvana, Snow Patrol, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, The Toadies, The Burden Brothers, Damien Rice, Elliott Smith, The Fire Theft, John Frusciante, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Seether, Three Days Grace, Filter, Tonic, The Nixons, Everclear, Staind, Dashboard Confessional, John Mayer, etc.
I suppose I may at times sound like Tonic, Alice in Chains, Filter, Elliott Smith, or Nirvana. Hard to say, really.
What equipment do you use?
Matt Young uses a high-end Takamine acoustic/electric guitar, a Boss BR-1600 digital multi-track studio, electrics: a Schecter C1-Elite and a Schecter Diamond Series 009 Deluxe, a Peavey Valveking, and a Bogner Alchemist combo with a Bogner Alchemist 212 extension cab.
Anything else?
The Tricycle Wipeout is for deep thinkers and deep feelers. People who contemplate their places in life, politics, morality, and good, old-fasioned heartache. Though we may throw in a pop song, just to do it.
