Spawned from Caerphilly back in 2001, ‘12Gauge’ consisted of four friends with a similar taste in brutal riffs and pummeling beatdowns. Influenced by bands such as Stampin’ Ground, we got straight to work writing our own material; making our music as technical and complicated as our abilities would allow, without diverging from the Hardcore sound. Our original line-up looked like this:

Throughout our A-level year we put together a pretty decent set, practicing pretty much whenever we didn’t have lessons . . . . . and sometimes when we did. We played our first gig in Ton Pentre, supporting Stroy. Although it was a fantastic show, it was to be the first and last with the original line-up; our guitarist at the time, Abu, got outrageously fantastic A-level results and went to study medicine in London. We tried to keep the band together but it just didn’t work, everything was thrown into disarray for six months.
Enter Mike Chamberlain, a mate Geraint met through university. Mike turned up for practice, plugged in his guitar, and within ten seconds was part of the band; devastating chug and circle-pit-worthy thrashy riffs all round! There and then we decided to totally re-write our set, with the goal of cramming as many beatdowns as possible into each of our songs. Six months on and we’re playing our first gigs, faster, more technical and far more brutal than ever!
