Band/artist history
The Renaissance Music Group was established in 1998 by Lee Merritts, Ricco Brown, and Jeff Robertson. Initially these three individuals were members of the same hip hop group but soon realized that their individual talents extended far past the microphone. They were businessmen with focussed objectives, high standards, and lofty goals. In 1999 the group added a new member with a rapid fire, sliky smooth delivery who went by the name of Blayze McKee. His versatile style added an important element to any track that he spit on. With Blayze on board the group knew it was the beginning of something special. Over the years the group has produced for a number of hip hop groups while creating a song database that includes over 500 songs. Many of these songs have been featured on mixtapes, independently distibuted albums, and featured in films. The RMG is in the process of creating a network of producers, filmmakers, and artists that will someday rival the major record labels of today. The Renaissance has already established strong ties with Rush Films (check out rush-films.com) ran by the ultra-talented Rockney Jacobs and The Red Giants (check out jermiside.com) who feature precision beats by Jermiside Scarwell. The RMG look to create even more partnerships in the near future and intend on leaving a major imprint on the music industry.
