The Rebel Band was formed by Lanny Hamlet son of Norm Hamlet Leader of Merle Haggard's Stranger's. Lanny together with the songwriting and singing talent of vocalist Davy Brewton formed Rebel Band. Most of the boys came out of the Bakersfield sound. The name Rebel was voted on because the boys for the most part attended South high school in Bakersfield. Davy was managed by the Famous Bill Woods of Bakersfield and Lanny was raised up under the guiding hand of Roy Nichols and his dad Norm Hamlet. The other members included; Randy Patterson, Gary Flansburg, Dave Bishop, stuart Gunter,Larry Hamlet. The later on came down to only five original members.Dave Bishop, Gary Flansburg, Stuart Gunter,Davy Brewton & Lanny Hamlet. Now in 2004 Rebel is still playing music! The songs are getting better with four albums recorded, five awards to thier name, Davy & Lanny are still recording and singing and are now looking for a songwriting contract. Their credits include concerts with stars such as Merle Haggard,Tv apperences and many recording studio sessions and production credits.
Band/artist history
The Band Started as The Ranblin' Wind band we all came from Souh High school in Bakersfield Califorina. I Davy Brewton was Born in Tennessee and Had been in Nashville at 19 recording my first record with Charlie Fields & Conway Twitty at RCA. Called Honky TonK Lady in the 70's. I was a Bakersfield raised boy and under the management of Bill Woods of Bakersfield. He had sent me out to meet a couple of the Hamlet boys, Larry & Lanny and that started a Life long relationship in music. Together we started what would soon be Rebel Band. In the 80's after honing our sound & our songs Merle and Fuzzy Owen decided that it was time to Recod so they took us to Hollywod to Britannia studios where the Eagles recorded their Long Run album & Hotel Califorina, They lined up the personel and Fuzzy & Norm Hamlet produced the first Rebel album " Alabama Rain". Later on in 1984 we four awards in Southern California; for " song of the year, Vocalist of the year, Band of the Year, Guitar player of the year." Rebel moved on thru the Years Merle had us play in concert with him. We open hollywood stars private partys & concerts all over. Thru the years Rebel beand has had staying power with their fans.
