Merle Haggard The Rebel Band was formed by Lanny Hamlet son of Norm Hamlet Leader of Merle Haggard's Stranger's. Lanny together with the songwriting and singing talent of vocalist Davy Brewton formed Rebel Band. Most of the boys came out of the Bakersfield sound. The name Rebel was voted on because the boys for the most part attended South high school in Bakersfield.
