Last Call Last Call
The Rantings of Eva aspire to lead the way into a new era for rock music. Vocalist Ryan Flanagan states: We are trying to recreate the vintage rock sound while upholding the integrity of the music and offering a sincerity not present in most of today's rock bands. This encapsulates the band's overall concept from the start. We just want to make music that is real and that doesn't bend to anyone's preference, says bassist Patrick Flanagan. With an array of influences, Eva blends sounds from bands such as Catherine Wheel, Stone Roses, U2, and Jeff Buckley. Dual telecaster driven rock fuels the foundational melodies laced with vocals reminiscent of Radiohead's Thom Yorke. Backed with equally creative bass lines and precise drum work, Eva presents this package through their strong live shows and studio renderings.
Considering that the band has only been together for two years, Eva has been making progress in the Atlanta music scene through limited shows and a two-song demo. The band was selected to play Music Midtown 2002 through recommendations from various music promoters in the region. Attributing the band's success to discipline and focus, guitarist Dusty Watts states, We've been lucky in that we seem to be providing something to audiences that has been lacking in music for some time... All we are trying to do is write sincere, warm songs that mean something to us as a band on a personal level. It is our belief that if we stick to this concept, people will react in a positive way. There are no pretenses involved in our writing--regardless of what is trendy, fashionable, or whatever happens to appease the music industry. This is a formula that is rare today but seems to be working for the band.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We've been gigging around Atlanta for the past two years; mainly venues in Midtown. On average I guess we play about once a month and we always try to have new material at each show. Probably the most memorable live moment for us was playing Music Midtown 2002. This is the biggest music festival in the Southeast and a very big deal here in Atlanta. We love playing out and view each show as the reward for everything we've put into the band.
Your musical influences
We all come from really different backgrounds, but I guess the influences that apply are as follows: Radiohead, Coldplay, Jeff Buckley, Jane's Addiction, James Hall

i really like the lead singer's voice and the style is close to home. my first impression was that the vocals are actually stronger than the music (the opposite is almost always the case), though i got into the third song a bit and the first one definitely got my attention. keep up the good work,
