Smooth

A virtual band (see name) with a couple of live players and various occasional collaborators. Band founder/leader is a pub jammer and bedroom producer with a boring (suit & tie) day job; finding great joy in noise-making with all sorts of instruments or without them.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I play quite regularly in jams at pubs and bars in my area; mostly blues and classic rock with the odd bit of latin or jazz or just noise :) I also play with a more 'regular' band at church: contemporary Gospel and CCM rock, some R&B and even Hip Hop. I tremendously enjoy playing live - with other musicians, and look for any opportunity. Given the time, would join any number of bands and jam with anyone who doesn't mind...
Your musical influences
Few people (or bands) can be more eclectic than this Quartet. Influences range from Classical to R&B, from Blues to Celtic, Latin to Hip-Hop and anything in-between with a good measure of Ambient thrown in... Couple of names of real high importance: Vivaldi, Musorgski, Sachmo, BBKing, Clapton, McLaughlin, Shankar, Led Zeppelin, Miles Davies, U2, Tadic-Stefanovski, F-B-Slim, Aretha, Bobbie McFerrin, Stevie Wonder... in no particular order and very, very incomplete.
What equipment do you use?
I have a couple of seriously professional pieces but my main drive is to use 'poor man's studio' and prove that wonderful noises can be produced with the simplest and chapest gear. My latest big love is... my mobile phone: it's a MIDI sequencer, a drum machine, a guitar tuner, a karaoke machine and even a recording studio! I would like to mention that for guitars (both live and studio) I swear by BZ Amps analog amp simulators and DI pre-amps, nothing beats their sound and clean signal. For an added vintage bite I maintain a '58 Fender Champ (with its 8W it can be louder than 4x12 Marshalls). If I was allowed only one software program on my PC that would be the Noteworthy Composer (shareware score notation tool with MIDI).
Anything else?
We love writing music, arranging traditional and contemporary orchestrations, recording, mixing and producing music in all styles for all purposes, commercial and free/fun. One band member even does world-class porfessional CD mastering in his studio. Check us out if you feel you would benefit from a richer sound. Also, we're not limited to instrumental compositions, we love . If you can write lyrics or can add vocals to our work, collaborations are welcome!
