"Best Surf Band" - 2007 Orange County Music Awards. Hailing from Huntington Beach, California, The Mai Tais combine their love of classic surf instrumentals with heavy rock and roll into a rockin’ surf sound. Their influences are Instrumental Surf, Punk, Metal, and Blues. The Mai Tais live show is high-energy and family-oriented with audience participation, free leis and hula hoop contests. Fans of all ages, from preschoolers to baby boomers, have experienced The Mai Tais and have walked away with the same thought, "Those guys ROCK!" Ray & Paul have been playing together for many years, but then went off in separate directions for a while only to re unite as The Mai Tais Johnny comes to us as one of the most dynamic and charismatic Drummers we have played with!

What equipment do you use?
Ray Fender Strat Fender Twin Reverb Amp, Fender Reverb Tank, Paul Gibson Thunderbird, Fender P-Base, Carvin Head w/410 cab.. Johnny a vintage Slingerland kit with a Radio King snare and a combination of Zildjian K's and PAISTE cymbals. When the shoe fits , I always rock a 24" ride cymbal and I only ever play a single bass drum pedal !
