The Kings of Spain is a new band from Santa Barbara, California. Known for having a tight rhythmic bond between guitar and drums, the Kings have a punchy funk feel. Their original songs range from blues and funk to rock n roll. The group plays at top clubs in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, but for a new band, has won considerable national and international attention. The band made it to finals in the NBC StarTomorrow contest, which was featured on national TV and the internet, placing ahead of thousands who auditioned for the contest. UCSB student Will Loomis is the lead singer and songwriter for the group. Other band members include SBCC college students Thomas Masker (guitar), Adam Reiber (bass) and SBHS students Jeremy Berushka (organ) and Nick Scozzaro (drums). The band plays guitar rock sound with a punchy, funk feel coupled with pleasing harmonies reminiscent of the early Beatles, or the Rolling Stones from Exile on Main St. Derek Power, serves as a consulting manager to the band. A Santa Barbara and West Hollywood based personal manager, he arranged the showcase for the Kings. Amongst a broad array of clients, he has represented legendary Police drummer Stewart Copeland since 1982, and he continues to represent Copeland to the present day as the Police launches their 2007 worldwide reunion tour through Concert mega Producers, Live Nation. They band is playing at the SXSW festival in March at the Current TV/ EMI party at Antone's along with the Robert Randolph Family Band.
