When the finest, most energetic group of musicians in Chicago formed together to create the The Katie Sullivan Band, they had no idea that their talent would catapult them into national folk/rock jam band areana! The KSB is the most unique, groovin' Americana jam band this side of - well, Americana! The KSB showcases soulful energetic folk/rock tunes, bluesy guitar riffs, funky bass grooves, and percussion that will surely entrance you.
The Katie Sullivan Band represents the ultimate of talent in the Americana Jam Band genre. Katie's vocals are compared to Janis Joplin, Patsy Cline, and Bonnie Raitt. When the KSB was formed, the effect on the Chicago scene was intoxicatingly energetic, to say the least. Katie, along with Michael Brown, LJ Slavin, Dave Gans, Kent Kaled, and guest musicians play weekly to sold out rooms in the Midwest. The show guarantees a true- rootsy groove, and passionate vocals, where every song tells a story and stirs the soul. With a CD under their belt, and a national tour schedule set up for 2004-2005, watch the Katie Sullivan Band take America by storm!Have you performed in front of an audience?The KSB currently plays nationwide live shows, centralizing their current tour schedule around the Midwest. Their live shows have been aired on radio both in the States and abroad. Their most recent special moment was releasing their newest CD "Feel Free to Dance," which was produced by Grammy nominated producer Michael Freeman.
Your musical influences
The KSB is unfluenced by American folk/rock and blues greats of the 60's and 70's. Their favorite influences include the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Muddy Waters, CCR, the Allman Brothers, and Crosby Stills, Nash & Young, just to name a few. The twist they add to their shows comes from the Celtic Rock influence. Their influences in this area are acts such as Gaelic Storm and the Corrs. The KSB truly rocks out some of the most popular Irish pubs tunes, turning them into pulsating grooves that have everyone on their feet.What equipment do you use?
We use Takamine and Martin acoustic electric guitars, Rickenbacker bass, and Brownie the drummer, well his kit is custom-made- by Brownie the drummer. He has so much world percussion that I guess you would have to ask him! (brownie@katiemusic.com)Anything else?
