3 saxes/flutes + vibes/percussion + bass + drums + keys/guitar/trumpet = Psychafunkadoobalicious grooves. Some people call it avant-funk, some old toothless lady at Springwater called it disfunktional jazz, blah blah. We try not to call it. We're typically compared to Medeski Martin & Wood, Zappa, Groove Collective, Tower of Power, and Phish. We have FREE avenues to let you make your own decision: check out GSBE radio, our streaming MP3 server. GSBE radio plays every track from our NMA-nominated CD and over 2 hours of live material 24/7. Check it out on-line at . We're one of the first bands to use this technology to promote our own original music, therefore sidestepping the copyright problems that everyone else is having. Not to mention beating all the major labels to the punch of delivering on-line. Couple that with an enhanced CD that has 5 "unavailable anywhere else, including the net" MP3s, an 8-minute video, screen savers, and other goodies! We're trying our best to make good music that can be delivered with technology that's easy to use and fun to listen and watch.Band/artist history
Psychafunkadoobalicious.
The Guy Smiley Blues Exchange, formed in 1993, has been compared to groove/jazz artists like Groove Collective, Phish, and Medeski Martin & Wood. The main focus of the band are the three saxophones - alto, tenor, and baritone. Add to that drums, bass, and keyboard, guitar, and trumpet. Top it off with percussion and vibraphone and you've got a unique style. Their sound is a collection of many musical styles. In one live performance they play everything from straight-ahead jazz to rock to Latin to funk. They stretch the word m-u-s-i-c.
The seven members of the group have combined their experiences, their influences, and their energy to create The Guy Smiley Blues Exchange.
Psychafunkadoobalicious.Have you performed in front of an audience? The Guy Smiley Blues Exchange is all about energy. When you combine seven people on stage giving 120 percent that's like almost 1,000 percent, I think. No, it's not. That's like 840 percent or something. But it's still about the energy.
We combine pyschafunkadoobalicious grooves with stage antics and costumes. The band once brought Patrick (one of the three sax players) on stage in a coffin and resurrected him on Halloween. The Death Of Funk came in and pronounced him dead and we sighted the old Pychafunkadoobalicious - expialidocious awake - from - the - dead chant and brought him back to life. This is how we are. We can't help it.

After 18-23 years of searching, the members of The Guy Smiley Blues Exchange met in Nashville, TN. After attending music school, the 7 members banded together to create a new form of music for the masses. The band combines 3-saxes with a volcanic rhythm section to produce a fat sound that's unequaled in today's rock world. No stack of guitars can equal the low rumble produced by the band's horn section: The Junkyard Horns. Coupling a new sound and unique compositions, this group is going somewhere fast. Check them out.
