Their Tears (Will Be Your Gold) Their Tears (Will Be Your Gold)

A straight up melodic song with choppy rhythms and plenty of vocal harmonies! The first fully completed song to be released by The Great Folk Scandal!

Fade To Dust Fade To Dust

An unashamed tribute to the great rockers of the 60s and 70s! However its been rendered with a few of The Great Folk Scandal's typical tricks!

Rock General

A band who know no boundaries when it comes to our music. We try our hardest not be confined by genres or trends whilst still trying to maintain an air of continuity throughout our music. In other words......we'll give anything a try once! 2011 has been a good year for us so far. We've finally gone from a two-piece side-project to a full blown band, played a storming charity gig and are now in the studio writing a whole batch of new material for your listening pleasure!
Band/artist history
The Great Folk Scandal started life as a side project created by guitarist Sandy Kemp and singer/songwriter Anthony Cahill. Sandy and Tony were both members of Glasgow band Underwood and had been playing together for the best part of ten years. While in Underwood the pair began to co-write songs and decided to use them as an additional outlet for their creativity. When Underwood split in 2010 the pair had contemplated what to do next. It wasn't long until Tony and Sandy decided to take The Scandal a step beyond merely being a side-project. In November 2010 Paul Burke, another ex-member of Underwood, began jamming with Tony and Sandy before deciding to become a permanent fixture in the line-up. Finally bassist Dave Blane joined the band a matter of weeks before their début gig at QuarriersLIVE in March 2011.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes we play live anywhere we can get to! So far 2011 saw us play QuarriersLIVE, a charity gig held in Glasgow's G2 nightclub.
Your musical influences
To be honest there are way too may to list however they do include artists and acts such as: Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Bob Dylan and more modern acts such as Muse, Soundgarden, Manic Street Preachers, Dave Matthews Band and you might even find a bit of Beethoven in there somewhere too!
Anything else?
There soon will be......
