Fuzzy Side - Seems we've all been there at one time or another and for some us, well, it's a place we often call home. Thinking back to those days when life seemed a lot simpler, we remember the songs on the radio that were easy to listen to and everybody knew the words. Come back with us to “The Fuzzy Side”, where we bring back those songs that have been a little misplaced over time.

Fuzzy Side is an all-Acoustic group out of Rhode Island who focus on the memorable rock and pop songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Our song list includes some of the great "lost" songs from music's golden past. The group was formed by three guys who were tired of the "Rock Band" atmosphere and just wanted to play those other types of songs that people would enjoy as well. The songs selected by the group focus on the many different song types and good harmonies music has given us over the years. This project has started us on yet another musical journey and right from the start we had the feeling we took a right turn and well, here we are.

Vocal Harmony is the trademark. Songs the band perform are chosen for good reason. First and foremost the song has quality. There are so many great songs and so little time to play them all, so choosing the right song is important. The trio not only perform some of the popular songs from the past, but songs perfomed by many top artists which may never have made it to the top of the charts. In some cases, these songs are as good, or maybe better, than the songs that made the performer famous. Join us at one of our performances and enjoy the fun, the music and the good company that is part of "The FUZZY SIDE"

Band/artist history

Jim Kelly has been performing on and off since his College Coffee House gigs of the 70’s. In 1999 Jim's dream of fronting a local band came true when he founded the popular "FSB - The Farnum Street Band", a Classic Rock - Blues Band. From its beginnings eight years ago, the band has headlined in many local clubs throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachousetts and continues today with limited special engagements. The "J&B Incorporated" duo which he started in 2004, also performed until recently at area Yacht Clubs and private gatherings throughout Rhode Island. His newest project, "FUZZY SIDE", focuses on vocal harmony and is directed towards an audience who enjoy being entertained with songs they know and can sing along to.

Steve Calvert attributes much of his musical talents to his family. His father played piano and both father and mother were singing in choruses at the age of eighty. With his family roots firmly planted, Steve's thirty year musical career includes co-founder of three pop groups as well as ten years of concocting performing rock choruses. He plays guitar and keyboards and directs the groups vocal arrangements on many of the songs. Steve's travel and musical resume include appearences from Denver to Greenwich Village, Cafes to churches and from Choruses to party venues coast to coast.

Rand Torman began his musical career in the 60's when he was the drummer for "Burgundy Mist", a top New England Rock N' Roll band located in Westport, MA. Rand went on to play in several other groups before he packed the drums away while attending college and raising a family. After a 20 year hiatus, he stepped back onto the music scene and has played with a number of bands, most recently "The Cyclones", a blues band playing in SE Mass and greater Boston. Rand now plays a totally electronic drum kit, and has taken up percussion as well. Using the "ZENDRUM", an electronic triggering instrument, and a small electronic 'cocktail' kit, Rand brings a simple steady beat as well as adding vocals to "FUZZY SIDE".

Meet the newest member of "FUZZY SIDE"

Mike Paquin is an avid musician and has been playing bass for over 40 years. He started his first band in 1967 playing in many venues throughout the RI area. In the early 70’s his band "Trixter" recorded several originals and they also backed up several large acts to include The Leslie West Band and 38 Special. In the late 70's and 80's his band "Splitt" performed early new wave and classic rock and roll. He then moved on to perform full time on the road throughout New England, in a 1980’s cover band called "Tracer". Mike has continued to play classic rock and blues, including his participation in a Thursday night jam session along with friends Jim Kelly and former Tracer drummer Dave Smith. His current focus is on acoustic and jazz bass influences and his bass and vocal talents are a welcomed addition to the group.
