Indie

The Frenzy (formerly "Blend") is a Christian Indie/alt rock group out of San Antonio. The band consists of Matt Adler on guitar, keys, and vox, Gaby Beker on bass, and Chris Addington on drums.

Matt and Chris were in the original group back when they formed under the name "Blend" in 2004. When the original rhythm guitar player and bassist left the group, the band headed in a different direction. The band changed it's name to The Frenzy and became a hard-hitting power trio. Their live show is an experience to behold. Their first official Frenzy gig was on April 26th, 2007. The first of MANY.

The Frenzy pulls from a huge variety of musical influences and ultimately creates an incredibly unique, aggressive, melodic, and all around accessible sound. It could be classified as dark, epic indie rock.

Fans of Muse, Mae, Matchbook Romance, Days Away, and Circa Survive with love this album. Give it a listen!

Band/artist history

In 2004, Matt Adler, Chris Addington, Ben Smith, and Steven Dalros formed a band called Blend that played around the San Antonio area. It was the standard 2 guitar, bass, drums, and lead vocalist setup.

They never quite defined their sound. It was sort of a "play what we feel like" situation. They were very well received, but never really pursued playing a substantial number of gigs.

After a year or so, Steven joined the Navy and left the group. And Ben Smith left because he got too busy with his jobs.

Chris and Matt played a couple of gigs with various fill-in bass players. Upon finding Gaby Beker and filling in the permanent bass player position, the band decided to go in more of an indie rock direction. They renamed the band to "The Frenzy" and became a hard-hitting power trio.

They played their first official "Frenzy" gig on April 26th, 2007 at Rock Bottom in San Antonio, TX. For those who have had the opportunity to see the band live, it was certainly an experience to behold. From the stage presence to the tight musicianship, it's truly a great show!

Have you performed in front of an audience?

We just started playing live again for the first time since we became The Frenzy. We had sort of a reinvention after losing a couple members of our original lineup (we were called Blend at the time).

We have a very energetic live show. Great presence, tight musicianship, and a lot of energy. It's definitely a great experience to catch us live!

Your musical influences

Muse, Matchbook Romance, Circa Survive, Delirious, and Days Away are the biggest influence of our music.

Our style does also have a classical music influence as well.

Stick it all in a blender, you end up with a very aggressive, energetic, yet melodic sound. Very accessible and very cool!

What equipment do you use?

Gibson guitars, Fender basses, and Tama drums.
