Welcome to the Figures of Speech page, The Figures of Speech a hip hop group featuring Matter of Fact, Next Level and Twisted Blew, dedicated to making light and heavy hip hop with some sort of meaning. No bling bling hear ladies!
Band/artist history
The Figures of Speech formed as a hip hop group in the summer of 1997, the original members were Matter Of Fact (founder), J-one, Serg Spittable, Guinness Book, and Prophecy. With the exception of Prophecy (R.I.P. 1998) the group remained intact until they went their seperate ways in 1999, the remaining members were Matter Of Fact, J-one and Serg Spittable. During the span of the next two years, due to geographical hardship and differences in the direction of the group, it was disbanded totally. In the summer of 2002, Matter of Fact decided to revive the group with a new member, the very talented Next Level, A.K.A. Future Legendary. the two made music as a duo over the next two years until two new members were picked up, John Wayne and Twisted Blew. Near the end of 2004 John Wayne was expelled for spitten written at the "Bounce" nightclub during the freestyle Friday battle. And then there were three...
Have you performed in front of an audience?
No live shows in about a year, but look for us soon! We're gettin back on our grind!
What equipment do you use?
We use MAC and PC, Sonar by cakewalk and have used Pro Tools, Audio Technica mics, college ruled paper and pencils, sometimes pens if we're feelin it.
