Times are Right Times are Right

Gets all our influences and all the styles of music we play and chucks 'em in one big blender. Listen for yourself...

Rock General

Picture for song 'So close, yet so far' by artist 'The Era'

So close, yet so far So close, yet so far

In the same sort of vein as our ballad Still Young, yet with more of a kick.

Rock General

Picture for song 'Sound of the Century' by artist 'The Era'

Sound of the Century Sound of the Century

Our most infectious (and notorious) song, who cares if it's a bit unoriginal! This isn't recorded well but we thought you'd wanna hear it anyway...

Brit Pop

The Era are... Chris 'Colz' Collins: Vocals Martyn Hannant: Guitar/Vocals Dav Hannant: Bass Sean Coates: Drums Colz and Martyn have known each other throughout school. Dav is Martyn's brother. Sean was introduced via Dav's bass teacher. And that's where the life story stops. The Era are simply a classic British rock n roll band intent on fighting against the American influenced punk/emo/something followed by the word 'core' bands dominating Norwich. We have three songs on here, two fully mastered, and we have two more to come, our ballad Still Young and our out-and-out RnR track Livin' Fast.
Band/artist history
Colz and Rob Annable formed an imaginary group whilst very, very drunk. This rapidly became reality when Rob, Chris and Mart had their first jam, on a Thursday morning, at Rob's house. We continued at Martyn's house covering Oasis tunes and writing our own stuff, but goin nowhere fast. Rob and band later had to part company and drummer Sean joined, which marked the start of the path The Era still follow today.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Playing live is the best part of being in a band, we have played a series of gigs in Norfolk and Suffolk, including The Ferryboat Inn, Reflections in Lowestoft, and arguably our finest moment to date at Norwich Arts Centre.
Your musical influences
Alcohol. Sex. Drugs. Rock n roll. Oh right musical influences... People like Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, Blur, bit of this bit of that I guess...
What equipment do you use?
1. The Era are not making techno or electronic music (yet) 2. The Era do not use 80s style sythesisers and never will!
