Drew Laird is a solo acoustic musician from Bloomington, Indiana. He uses loop effects to create multi-instrumental improvisations. He was recently dubbed the "one-man jam band".
His style of transcendental, or "trance" rock has flavors of acoustic and alternative rock, ambient, neo-psychedelia, New Age and Native American music. Drew uses two Boss Loop Station effects pedals. This allows him to layer guitars, shakers, djimbe, ashiko, talking drum, 5-string bass, vocals and Native American cedar flute. A song may have two bass lines, and a half-dozen different guitar riffs and harmonic notes that wash over the listener in mesmerizing waves of sound.
Drew released his latest CD, entitled Wilderness of the Spirit, in 2004.
