TheDarkRiver was born in 1996 as a solo act of Juha Kananen [Hrafn] and was one of his first music projects, the sound was a mixture of progressive electro and noise and the concept could simply be described as "death and psychic illness".
As time went by other projects came to life and TDR did not get Hrafn's full attention, between the years 1997 and 2003 he put together 5 demos while he was working with other projects on the side.
3 years after the release of the last demo Hrafn joined forces with the man behind a dark ambient project called "CadaverZoo", Adem. They had talked about creating music together for quite a while since Hrafn thought that the noise sculptures and throat torture of Adem could come in handy.
And so it happened, on a cold winters day in the year of our Lord 2006 they combined their thoughts, feelings and twisted minds and resurrected The Dark River.

The first work of TDR in its current form is taking shape as you read and if you want to listen to some of the tracks just go to the "Creations"-section....(...)..Have you performed in front of an audience?No not gonna play our creations live... But it could happens that we makes som installations as a live performance in the future...
