The Cypher is a young, up and coming hip hop producer hailing from Burnaby, BC. Growing up, his life has been heavily influenced by the "Golden Era" of Hip Hop containing artists such as KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest, Big Daddy Kane, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, and other young artists of the era such as 2pac, The Notorious B.I.G. and Nas. This has played a big role in his production, as his sound is true to the real roots of hip hop.
At this point in time, since I am fairly new to this kind of stuff, i have not been able to perform live. I hope that in the years to come, that i can master the craft of being a DJ and then begin to perform live around the world.
Too many to name...but I will list the real big ones. First in form most DJ Premier, definitely the greatest producer of all time. Next I would have to say Pete Rock. It's a shame that people these days have never even heard of him when he has made so many classic joints such as T.R.O.Y. and Shut Em Down Remix. After that we have RZA, Dr. Dre, J. Dilla, Black Milk, Da Beatminerz all high end producers. As far as rap is concerned I'd have to say Nas is my number 1...Illmatic has been the single biggest influence in my life when it comes to Hip Hop...his lyrics were just years beyond his age at that point in time. Then we have A Tribe Called Quest, The Notorious B.I.G., 2pac, Jay-Z, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth....I could go on forever
Oh yeah...can't forget all my soul brothers...Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield on and on and on...
Just my laptop with FL Studio 7 lol...I've only been doing this for about 3 months so my equipment thus far is limited. Plannin' to cop a MPC and some turntables this summer though.
