Poor World Poor World
A lament to the inescapable tide of life that puts people together only to pull them apart again.
The Curvy Straights is a conduit for the expressions of the universe. We are merely tools by which the collective awareness of everything expresses itself.Band/artist history
The Curvy Straights is the result of the dissolution of culture and the chaos left in its aftermath.
Descended from various local 90's rock and psychedelic bands, the Curvy Straights is a culmination of energies necessitated by the swirling chaos of society's impulsions.
The Curvy Straights' raw, indie sound can be traced back to such influential bands as Built to Spill, Neil Young, Modest Mouse and the theme song from The Great Space Coaster.
This weird, emotive indie rock ensemble trembles with introspective darkness, weaving a tapestry of epic intensity and pop flavoring that alternately confuses and delights.
According to singer/guitarist Matt Lintzenich, "The songs are a frenzy of emotive backlash against the spiritual dissolution and loss associated with the unstoppable rotation of the galaxy."Have you performed in front of an audience? We've played recently at Arlene's Grocery, The Bitter End and The Baggot Inn in NYC, as well as venues in North Jersey.
Your musical influences
King Crimson, Sebadoh, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, The Count Basie Orchestra, the Flaming Lips, Rebecca Schmoyer, Modest Mouse, Jai AgnishWhat equipment do you use?
Matt uses an American made California Strat through a Boss Overdrive pedal into a Crate Acoustic Amp.
Bill uses a vast array of pedals and devices attached to a bass guitar.
Mike uses a pretty nice acoustic guitar with a built-in tuner, EQ and input through whatever PA is available.
Ian uses a drumset, and sometimes a djembe'.
Ed uses a couple different guitars through a sprawling maze of pedals and processors nicely assembled in this big square box into a Fender Deluxe Reverb.Anything else?
At the center of chaos is structure, and at the center of structure is chaos.
