Jah, Dalley and Nhuri have developed a sound that will revolutionize Hip-Hop. Like ‘The Roots’, this Hip-Hop group plays all live instruments, straying from the computerized beats most Hip-Hop fans are familiar with these days. Each song draws from various styles of music including Classical, Spanish, funk and rap, displaying the versatility and talent of the band.

Jah headlines the group with ingenious lyrics, and a commanding flow. His lyrics paint a picture and create a vivid story that speaks of experience past his years. Jah is a lyricist in the truest sense of the word, drawing inspiration from his life and trials growing up in the island of Bermuda. Jah took to the hip hop scene at an early age; dominating the battle scene amongst other would be MC’s in Bermuda high schools and Colleges. When he came to Halifax for his final year of high school he found that the battle scene amongst his new peers wasn’t as competitive as he was used to in Bermuda. He then looked to home recording and eventually professional recording as an outlet for his lyrical passion. His superior lyrical ability is rivalled only by his ability to produce and that ability is accented by the raw musical talent of The Chronicles crew.

Dalley is the musical mastermind that brings Jah’s lyrics to life. His unique ability to combine rifts from rock with soft melodies of R&B and percussion from hip hop is derived from his extensive knowledge of music. Over the last decade Dalley has played in bands from every genre and is now trying to use his dexterity in live music to take Hip Hop production to another plateau.

The Chronicles successful recording could not have been without the help of Nhuri, who is a Sound Engineer and DJ that helped to record some of their earlier music, and influenced the design of their newer productions.

This contemporary urban sound heard from The Chronicles will alter the way individuals perceive rap.
