These tracks are mostly quintets playing Brazilian tunes.
Some of my favorites: Jim Hall, Paul Desmond, Carlos Santana, Chico Pinheiro, Marcos Silva, Tom Jobim, Elis Regina, Djavan, Dori Caymmi, Toninho Horta, B.B. King, Toots Hibbert, The Blues Project.
These recordings were all made very simply. The recent ones use a Zoom H2 with a Sony ECMDS70P stereo microphone (192, external mic, medium sensitivity). The older ones used an Iriver IFP795 with the same mic.
The 2009 tracks using steel string guitar were recorded with a D'angelico EXDC, a Boss ME50 and a Mesa Boogie Mark III. The nylon guitar tracks used a Godin Multiac SA -- the rest of the system was the same.
The Aug 2010 tracks were the EXDC, ME50 and a Roland JC55 (which sounded better than I expected.
The Sept 2010 tracks used an original Ampeg Reverberocket. Ever since I replaced the original tubes, it sounds a little muddy.
A few tunes have more than one guitarist. In those situations I'm the steel string electric player, not the nylon player.
