The Blue Room is all about just exploding onto tape and letting the pieces fall where they may.
The Blue Room is odd. It's been compared to "audio terrorism," (before 9/11 made the word "chic"). It's also been described as a recorded step by step mental breakdown. Both descriptions fit.
There have been several attempts by Brian & Rob to recapture the magic that made these recordings... but so far it hasn't happened. It's hard to find that delicate balance of being intoxicated enough to express yourself this way... yet still being coherent enough to work the music equipment.
No. It's not meant to be a "live" band. Musically, it would probably be impossible without using a TON of "backing tracks". And that's not how we roll.
The band was originally envisioned as a dark psychedelic group (a la the Legendary Pink Dots). Other influences include Coil, Current 93, Nurse With Wound, and several others.
