Breakdown Breakdown

Rock n Roll

Tantric was formed when Todd Whitener, Matt Taul and Jesse Vest split with frontman Travis Meeks aka Days of the New. The three men pushed on and were not going to give up on music. They found Hugo Ferreira and had what they needed. Signing with Maverick Records Tantric put out their Self Titled album in 2001 and After We Go in 2005. Jesse Vest has since left the band to be with his family. Tantric has replaced Jesse with Bruce LaFrance. As of right now Tantric is searching for a new label, as they and Maverick agreed to end their deal. Keep an eye out for the new album coming out soon!
Band/artist history
Coming out of Louisville, Kentucky Tantric proves their desire to break the barriers and be something. After a series of unfortunate events in 1998 Jesse Vest, Matt Taul and Todd Whitener found themselves out of the band they helped to make and wondering what was next. They knew they wanted to move ahead and keep making music, but were minus a singer. Back in Detroit, Michigan Hugo Ferreira was in a band called Merge. They recorded and did shows, however, Hugo always felt there was more out there for him. More he could experience. His manager, Dan Colucci had heard about the situation with Jesse, Matt and Todd and mentioned it to Hugo. Hugo contacted them and they hooked up. They did some work together and realized that they just clicked. Hugo went back to Detroit and got his things and headed for Louisville, Kentucky and the rest is the best to come. They recorded their first Self Titled album and it was a hit. With releases such as Breakdown, Astounded and Mourning the listening audience got to hear the different sides to Tantric. Their music is clearly about the things in life that affect us all. Love, loss, trials and tribulations in life. With After We Go, Tantric went a bit heavier and rocked every venue they hit. The heavier music was a great sound for the band. With the releases of Hey Now, The Chain and Hero once again the fans and public saw a new side to Tantric. A more mature group of guys along with 4 guys ready to rock the fans hard. The Chain, of Fleetwood Mac fame, was done by Tantric at the request of Maverick. How does a band choose a song to cover? Well, Tantric got to the point where Hugo decided they would turn on the radio and the song that was playing would be the cover. The Chain was it. Tantric pleased audiences everywhere with this song. This song showcased the talent of each member of the band. Recently, however, Jesse has chosen to leave Tantric and pursue much needed time with his family. Jesse has spent the last 10+ years on the road and in the studio and working hard. His family has always been important to him and now he can enjoy watching his children grow up and be a part of their lives full time. The fans have been blessed with great shows and amazing energy from Jesse and he will not be forgotten.
