Band/artist history
Tabula Rasa was an experimental band in the greater Cincinnatti area in the seventies, it was founded at NKU in the middle of a theory class as a project scam to get college credit for having a band by Rev.P.Nicholas Murphy and Michael (Spike) Roberts. Spike plays all keyboards, Rev. plays all strings except on the three tunes which were recorded live at NKU in the seventies at some event. On those pieces, Joe Wilmhoff was on bass, Kevin Leach was on second guitar and Louie Connell was drums and percussion Round' 1979 Rev. left the Cinci. area and went back to Florida to take of his ailing mom He was soon followed by Spike. It was there we were joined by Johnny McGee on drums. John plays drums on all but the live cuts. Louie Connell plays drums on the live cuts. Anyway,we continued giggin' and performing this material around Florida playing mostly listening rooms, coffee houses, shrimp and biker bars with a few colleges thrown in for good measure Rumplestiltskins, Reality Kitchen, Tanfanny's, Blighted Area, weird Florida bars, just to name a few. The band was disbanded in the early eighties due to life coming down a little too hard on Spike, John and the Rev. in a few places. Spike still performs live in the Steamboat Springs area and is not hard to find if you find yourself in that area of the world. John still plays also. We call him John of a thousand bands. A great hired gun if I ever met one. The tunes are fun so just enjoy. This is to all of our friends who have bugged us endlessly over the last thirty years to make a small part of that material and those days available again Thanks for dropping by, Rev.P.Nicholas Murphy/Spike Roberts/Johnny McGee/Joe Wilmhoff/Kevin Leach/Louie Connell
