If you're from O-town then you've most likely heard of Suckerpunch, if you haven't then you're probably an illegal alien or some type of farm animal. Their song Lost and Found has been getting radio play on O Rock 105.9 and Real Radio 104.1 on a regular basis now and is considered to be Mels (O-Rock) favorite local band. Playing gigs at Hard Rock and House of Blues and even playing Warped Tour 2001 Suckerpunch knows what its like to play in front of a crowd. "When Im performing and looking out into the crowd I'm always picturing everyone bathing together and cleaning eachother with rock salt and sea algae. Anyone thats played in front of an audience knows exactly what Im talking about, it's something about the energy" Says Jeph, Suckerpunch's lead singer. With a local following large enough to fit an oversized van (maybe even 2) Suckerpunch has what it takes to be your next one hit wonder. "All we want to do is get rich, that way we can all buy genetically enlarged fruits and vegetables" says SP drummer J.T. Their first Headlining tour with John Tesh and Slipknot last summer was nothing short of a letdown. When I asked Yellow (bass) about his thoughts on the tour he said this ."Slipknot is cool to travel with but John Tesh is a douche, he was always flipping out at me about his privacy, and how he "doesn't like people standing over him watching him while he sleeps" whatever fuck Tesh" In a nutshell this band is the shit. -Michael A Lowe Los Angeles Times
Suckerpunch formed in early 1999 when guitarist/vocalist Jeff recruited Yellow from an already well-known Orlando band. The two went on a streak of songwriting and in no time at all had enough originals to search for a drummer. They found one in the summer of 1999. He left 2 weeks later. They found another one, he left a month later, then they found another one, and another one and another one before Yellow suggested his former drummer JT who at the time was playing cover songs in a bar band and crying himself to sleep after every show. The entire project finally came together and this band took off and started playing the big shows. They actually had a horn section in this part of their history and this is where most of their ska hits stem from. Still utilizing the horns whenever possible, they stick to the formula that has garnered their local success, high energy, lots of laughs and lots of crowd participation. Their full length album will be finished this summer and they plan on touring extensively, until everyone knows who they are. We'll be seeing you.
We play anywhere and everywhere. We prefer all ages shows due to the energy that crowd provides, plus they tend to get the jokes. Our best moments were playing the Vans Warped Tour, playing in front of a huge and amazing crowd at the Hard Rock Live and playing in front of 200 screaming long-haired death metal fans who thought we were someone else, and then watching them go absolutely nuts during our whole set and giving us the ovation of ovations. It was a thrill, if you ever have the chance, play Jacksonville FL, those guys respect musicians and appreciate a great show.
