Jamie Winpenny (founding member of Red Session) brings his writings and music to Aina Kai Studios, and along with band mates and friends has begun to create new works combining elements of rock, ska, jazz, blues, country and rice, with a side of kim chee and double scoop macaroni salad.
Band/artist history
Nine years, 3 bands, and 10,000 miles later, Jamie Winpenny (founding member of "Red Session") returns to Hawaii and the Orphanage Studios (louder and better than ever) with his newest studio project "Playing In Traffic". The CD takes the distinct sounds of reggae, rock, folk, and ska, and blends them into a sound uniquely their own.
Jamie is an award winning author, is a regular music contributor to several local publications, a gifted lyricist, and has shared the stage with bands such as Reel Big Fish, Fishbone, Hepcat, Buck-O-Nine, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and the Toasters. He has been heavily influenced by the likes of Paul Simon, Joe Walsh and Eric Clapton. His lyrics are generally very personal, and have a lot to do with what he calls "karmic retribution".
