This song was written on my birthday Sept. 29,1977 almost ten years to the day that my kid brother brought over a classmate's brother who was almost my age. I had known him all my life, our mothers crossed paths while strolling their baby carriages back in 1952. Until that day that he visited our house we had never spoken to each other. From that day on we were to this day best friends to each other.
There are friends and there are best friends. Richard (Ritchie) Korman was and will forever be my very best friend.
My best friend died on February 28th 2009. He will be missed by everyone that came to know him. I just happened to have been the lucky guy whom he called his best friend. This song is his song...forever!
Lyrics
There was a time when you were on your own
No one called you on your phone
But I came along - unexpected.
I showed you how I could be your friend
We hit it off well thought it would never end
But life goes through changes
'Till the very end.
CHORUS
And looking back now I can't regret
The times we've shared since then
And even though it has cooled off now
We are the best of friends
Oh, we are the best of friends!
(REPEAT CHORUS)
It's easier now for you to smile through life
I live in P.R. with my kids and wife
But I'll never forget you
You are my very best friend.
