Meditational, thought-provoking songs for easy Christian listening...the music of singer-songwriter Nancy Krebs
Welcome to my Soundclick page! I have been a professional actor and singer for all of my adult life. I felt fairly complete doing theatre, films, voice-over work commercials, and teaching. Ever since I was in High School, I also wrote songs--many of them spiritual in nature. I’ve always felt a strong desire to “serve” in some capacity. It wasn’t until 1994, when I turned the process of writing over to God, that all of the avenues that I had been following seemed to come together. I began to write song after song, inspired by the Holy Spirit, singing at a church that supported my fledgling efforts. People kept asking me ‘do you have a cassette or a CD of your songs?” “No”, I would always answer--for the thought of recording never entered my head. Finally, after much soul-searching, my first album, THE JOURNEY, was created, and concerts followed; and more songs followed, and another album followed, and the journey continues. God is not finished yet, and neither am I. The songs I’ve been blessed to write come under the heading of “meditational”, “contemplative”, “inspirational”; and when people listen, they seem to be moved by the sentiments expressed. My fervent hope is that a song will touch someone’s heart, and that heart will be moved to a closer union with God--the Father, who created us, Jesus the Son, who redeemed us, and the Holy Spirit, who sanctifies us.

Story behind the song
I heard a wonderful sermon given by a very gifted preacher on Good Friday that asked the question: who was to blame for the death of Jesus? Was it Rome, was it misunderstanding etc. etc. Couldn't it have been the simple gift from the Heart of Jesus?
Lyrics
GIFT FROM THE HEART © Nancy Krebs 2001 based on a homily by Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. We’d like to think it all started with Adam most people say it was Eve. The blame could be laid almost anywhere; depending on what you believe. But His plan was in place from the very start; from the moment that time began. And we’d like to make it much less than it was. Just because we can. We’d like to blame the times when He lived; the people who turned away. We’d like to point to the mob that screamed: “Crucify Him” that day. But it was not them, it was not Rome; not even Adam or Eve. It was a gift, He gave from the heart so that all might believe. No blame can be laid at anyone’s feet. He’d have it no other way. It was a gift, He gave from the Heart when He gave His life that day. God brought the dawn on that Easter morning just like every morning before. Eternal salvation dawned as well, the bridge to heaven restored. The ransom was paid, our guilt washed away in the Love streaming from His heart. From that moment on, we shared in His joy even though we played no part. It was for us, it was for them, it was for Adam and Eve. It was a gift He gave from the heart so that all might believe. No one can claim the credit for this. He’d have it no other way. It was a gift, He gave from the heart when He rose to new life that day. It was a gift, He gave from the heart when He gave us new life that day. © 2004 Voiceworks Publishing All Rights Reserved

This song has such a good messge for me--that there was no blame for the death of Jesus--or any credit to be given for His Resurrection--it was the gift from His heart to all of us--His sacrifice alone, and His opening the gates of heaven for all of us--those past, present and yet to come.
