California Central Coast Groove Rock Giants: Still Time

Band/artist history

With humble beginnings as an acoustic duo in 2002, Still Time was fully realized in 2004. Previously known as "Longview" and "The New Longview", Still Time is here to stay, claiming their musical voice in the band's self-released debut album 'Stream Of Consciousness' in 2007.

With vocals swimming into the mystic range of Van Morrison and even Vedder or Duritz, Still Time adeptly draws from an eclectic musical vocabulary including rock, folk, jazz, funk, Americana, and reggae styles creating a sound uniquely their own and universally appealing.

2008 has been one of Still Time's most dynamic years, performing at a number of instantly recognizable festivals such as Coachella, Ranchita Rocks, and the first annual Pozo Green Music Festival. In addition to their spotlight live performance profile, Still Time has earned rotation spots on a number of FM and internet radio stations, including features on Insomnia Radio and KPIG's "Please Stand By" (7/13/08)

Known for their ability to bring a crowd wherever they go, Still Time has enjoyed sharing the stage with such bands as Ziggy Marley, Robert Randolph, Steel Pulse, Pepper, Ozomatli, Strung Out, ALO, Michael Franti, Spearhead, Eek A Mouse, One Republic, and The Expendables, and rocking audiences of 5,000+ at their largest venues.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

We play live and wrapped up a successful West Coast Summer Tour in 2008. It’s awesome meeting so many interesting people and playing everything from house parties to famous theatres. So far we’ve jammed in an abandoned train, explored the mountains of Santa Cruz, partied on a raft on Lake Washington, and attempted to set the record for the World’s longest conga line during one of our fresher jams (we missed it by 5 people.) It’s been incredible on stage and off and like we said the best part is meeting so many unique people.

Your musical influences

Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Dredg, Phish, Counting Crows, Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Allman Brothers, Taj Mahal, Lightnin' Hopkins, Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Incubus, Wilco, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Toots and the Maytals, Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice, James Taylor, Dave Matthews, Derek Trucks, Jaco Pastorius, Beck, Jackie Greene, Blind Melon, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Radiohead, Tupac, Biggie, Atmosphere, The Roots, and, of course, R. Kelly and Men at Work

Anything else?

We do feel that our music is reflective of where we live on the Central Coast. It’s a very laid back atmosphere we live in here in San Luis Obispo. We have a growing music community in this easy-going, small town which has helped us to write music we feel is distinctly Californian, but unique at the same time.
