Still Bust
Emo-core, Punk, Screamo, Loud, Smelly.
A song about how we will just fade out when we die without making a real impact on the world.
SoundClick artist Still Bust presents "Fade", a remarkable release in the Punk Rock genre. It works with a dynamic progression that keeps the listener engaged from start to finish. The arrangement unfolds with a natural ease, guiding the listener through a more immersive experience. "Fade" has peaked at number 2 on the SoundClick Punk chart. Still Bust continues to build a Punk Rock catalog on SoundClick, one of the longest-running platforms for independent artists.
Alrighty! Welcome to Still Bust! We're a 6 piece emo-core band from the mountainous regions of Gloucestershire! Formed partially in 2002 and then completed in 2004 with the addition of a second vocalist we're not ready to take the world... or just Gloucester by storm!
Lineup is as follows
- Matt 'Dooby' Stanley - Vocals
- Robbie Day - Vocals
- Taufiq Harris - Lead Guitar
- Ed Hudson - Rhythm Guitar
- Matt Raybould - Bass
- Sam Piper - Drums
How did the band start...?
Well I guess it all started with me (Taf) leaving a band named Nexus (who later went on to become arbitray) and Sam leaving the band Blowout. We met up at this music encouragement thing at school in 2002. I was a bassist and Sam was a rhythm guitarist.
With just the two of us at the time we worked on an old Blowout song called 'Rat-Poo' with the idea of using it as the then, unamed band. It didnt sound too bad considering it was composed with a bass and guitar,. Anyway it was roughly about this time that the song 'Lost' was being developed.
Having just a bassist and a guitarist was going to be a problem. It was then that we onlisted a former Blowout vocalist (although he never sang one song!!! - Matt ;-) ) Gareth Wright as our vocalist.
It was most immediately apparent that the current setup wasn't going to work so the setup changed to: -
Taf - Guitar/Vocals
Sam - Drums
Gaz - Bass
We had the basic 3 piece! And that reminds me of the amzingly sexy fact that I've forgotten to mention how we came by the name Still Bust. Basically, before Gaz joined, we had another guitarist from Swindon, Paul. In the back of my mind i knew it wouldn't work out due to the distance etc. but we at least got together electronically to throw in band name ideas. We ended up with the name Still Bust ... god knows why but its stuck and i must admit, it was a good suggestion by Paul and for his credit, I'll add in his Swindon based band link - The Throwbacks. Interesting aint it?
Anyway, with the 3-piece established, we were well on our way into making some new material. We got up to 6 odd songs worth before we realised that if we wanted to really strengthen the sound, we should look for another guitarist in the shape and form of Dooby. Dooby was to forever lend us his metallic influences and has since been a crucial member of the group.
Next Stop, WIRED! The demo we sent to WIRED was our first ever demo and i must admit, Dooby didn't do a half bad job with the mixing! Anyway, we sent the demo off and to our delight, we were accepted! More information is available on the 'News' section.
With the acceptance into the WIRED organization thing, it suddenly hit us that we'd actually be out there, in front of around 300 - 400 people, gigging live! We also realised that we hadn't enough songs properly complete. Putting ourselves under this new found pressure, it came to become a band decision that unfortunately, Gareth had to be let back out into the wild ... his care free and er ... care free spirit didn't suit our needs, so we let him go in favour of Matt Raybould (who co-incidentally is the main force in building this website) who seems to be full of enthusiasm and quick learning skill things ... um ... yeah.
So here we have it, the final line up of Still Bust with a few roles changed about
Taf - Guitarist/vocals
Dooby - Vocals/Guitar
Matt - Bass
Sam - Drums
However that would soon change before we even played our first gig! Ed Hudson joined on Rhythm Guitar to 'beef' up our songs and learnt them all just in time for the Farse gig.
So thats definately the line-up for Still Bust. After playing with Farse and also playing at the Guildhall we can now say we're a pretty decent band and are looking forward to many more gigs!
Bands we've played with
Farse, The Harpies, To Be Confirmed, Whippy Jim, Nice Guy Eddy/Symon Says, The Arcane, You Made Me, Urbatreigh
Several weeks after the Wired Gig, with several gigs under our belt now and thirsting for more, the prospect of the battle of the bands competition in Cheltenham (correct me if I’m wrong) came up which we took to eagerly. We are the only band from this years (Well, from 2003) Wired project to take part in this competition which also has bands such as Leap of Faith, The Dark Hearts and the Smoking Seasons!!! All of which are competing for the prize of a weeks time in a studio! Despite them having bigger and better foundations than us, we’re willing to give them a run for their money (And all the other competing band’s money for that matter) to try and snatch the prize from our opponents. Saying that, we’ve registered and are in the 4th heat of the competition.
Following our decision to play the battle of the band’s event, we have been quick to organize more gigs, to help quench out thirst to perform! On top of this, We have decided to add a 2nd vocalist to the group to help strengthen the vocal department. Not saying that Dooby is a poor vocalist in any shape or form, but a second vocalist will allow for more things to be down and perhaps a little harmonizing! Indeed we have found a second vocalist in the name of Robbie Day! This brings our line up to 6 members! Now that is larger than the average band but with so many people, we shall hopefully be able to create even more music than before!
Current Line up as of 7th Jan 2004

Robbie Vocals
Taf Lead Guitarist
Ed Rythem Guitarist
