Steve Chastain
A folk-rocker with a penchant for fingerstyle acoustic guitar (and open tunings) who has stood apart from the everyday performer
Steve Chastain has been an active part of the folk-rock scene in San Francisco Bay Area for many years. His penchant for fingerstyle acoustic guitar (and open tunings) has stood him apart from the everyday performer, and this debut collection of his original works is the culmination of 30 years of honing this material in bars, coffee shops and public events throughout northern California.
You may have seen Steve anywhere the Grateful Dead appeared, outside the event, playing before, after and alas, sometimes even during a show, hoping for a miracle. You may have seen him playing the main stage at Paul Masson Mountain winery, or Mountain Charlie's, or The Garret, or at his favorite sounding board, the Caf» Classique in El Granada, listening for the local buzz on the next time Neil Young will play The Landing.
Jerry Garcia, John Renbourn, Steven Stills, and Leo Kottke top the list, and lately, Martin Simpson has provided what proved to be invaluable guidance and inspiration.
