WELCOME TO STEREONAUT'S AUDIO ARCHIVES
Band/artist history
I have been producing for four years. I used be the hugest techno head, producing nothing but really bad trance. Then I got bored with a simple 4/4 beat pattern so I threw some variation in there for a more electro-breaks feel. Then a friend of mine introduced to me underground hip hop and it really got to me, so now, for about a year and a half, I've been prodcuing hip hop, while still developping my electronic sound.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Not currently. I am too busy with school and I am investing all my musical energy into my upcomming CD with Scribe Annonymous.
Your musical influences
I have many influences. Lyrically, I'm really partial to poetic and complex lyrics that have a more profound meaning. Musically, I'm really into organic sounding, experimental beats. My favorite record labels are Ninja Tunes, Anticon, Def Jux, and Peanuts and Corn. I also love the work of sixtoo, buck 65, and Josh Martinez. My favorite all around artist is probably Amon Tobin though. His diversity and ingenuity is incredible.
What equipment do you use?
I use the computer predominantly to make my music. I use software such as CoolEdit and Adobe Audition to create and edit sounds to make the samples I desire, then I use software like Reason to build my loops. I started out using Fruityloops back in the day before there was such a thing as piano rolls, but I still use it extensively for sequencing my loops and for adding a few effects. Afterwards, it's back to CoolEdit, Audition, or sometimes Acid to put on the final touches. I also have a turntable and mixer that I use sometimes to create samples with from old bizarre records found in my mom's collection, or in some dirty dusty record shop basement. I can also play a few instruments, and I enjoy recording live loops and samples for my songs.
