Spliff Lighty was born and raised in Central Massacusetts in the City of Worcester, aswell as Greater Worcester.
Childhood & Style origin
Spliff began writing poetry and songs a young as the age of 6 or 7 with dreams of someday being in the music industry. Spliff notes "My mom was into 80's hairband metal shit like Motley Crue, Guns & Roses, Metallica, etc. and the grunge era was big back then so (Kurt Kobain) was a major influence with the rest. But my dad is what got me into the hippie shit. Led Zep, Pink Floyd, The Who. This is stuff i remember hearing as far back as i can make my mind remember, but everybody i went to school with, even my cousins were way into that rap shit, so i guess thats what got me to start freestyling when i was like 9 or 10" by the time spliff was the age of 9 , Korn, Limp Bizkit, Eminem & Kid Rock were all setting a tone and paving a way for emcees like spliff with "Rap-metal"(Rap fused with hard guitar riffs and sometimes even live drums) but spliff was still into the underground and origionaters of that particular style; Esham "The Unholy"(& NATAS) who pioneered the style back in 89' in Detroit and dubbed the style "acid-rap",which is more of a hallucinogenic version of the rock/rap fusion. Spliff emulates this into his raps and music to this day and pays homage to the origionals who really paved the way.
Today
Spliff has been working ona debut LP for over 5 years, with only one mixtape under his belt, he is now working on the first part to his 2 part debut album which is "Authentic & RAW" The first part will be the last hal of the moniker "RAW" and it will be an extended play. Spliff is also working on aside project with childhood friend Delite at Too Addiktid studios called the "From Skratch EP" and has recently released the first single for that EP "Hello, How Are You?" The EP is called "From Skratch" because each track was made fresh from start to finish, lyrics, instrumental and all in one studio session from skratch.
