Funk

Sound Pictures Ensemble was born in january 2003 as an idea of evolution from a properly funky jazz band, such as a work in progress project. The Ensemble is a research, an exploration of the world of the sounds. It mainly draws its inspiration from improvisation of the moment, from the extemporaneous creation. The research starts from afro and latin funk rythms, from jazz improvisation harmonies, dance groove and synth sounds, breaking with the musical styles working on the evocative power of free sounds. A number of musicians from Bari and not, took part to this project leading to an experienced band, which consist in a piano synth, vocalist, a sax tenor and soprano, flute, 3 reeds, an electronic and acoustic bass, percussions and drums.
