Smooty

Smooty developed a love for hip hop at an early age. After receiving Run-DMC's "Raising Hell," and "Licensed To Ill" by The Beastie Boys for his eighth birthday, he developed a passion for the art form and has been writing, rhyming, and producing ever since. The 25 year old emcee's multidimensional background, knowledge, personality and interests are demonstrated in his concepts and verses. Smooty's melodic harmonizing skills often displayed in hooks contrasts and compliments the lyrical prowess in his verses. Thus, mixing humor, conscious content, & vivid lines with a low register delivery.

Since coming on to the scene in early 99, Smooty has performed with the likes of Mr. Dibbs, The Greenhouse Effect, Blueprint, Manifest, The Minor League, Poison Pen, The Animal Crackers, IsWhat, Ontologic, Truth Music Progeny, Club Ghetto, Herbin Life, Toomb, Skandal Da Ruckus Man, ill poetic, Zone ill, Definition, Pryzlezz Pain, Huntor Prey, Prose, Phaize II, All Ranges of Thought , Renaissance Establishment, Dj Spekter, Scratchmatiks, Picket Fence, The 13th Floor, Silent Assassin, Pearl Tooth, BooDaMan, Jermiside, Ohio Hydros, Blayze, and DjBigPhill. These shows took place in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Chicago.

Ras Kass for his lyrical knowledge and fierce metaphorical sarcasm, Guru for his smooth delivery and consistent consciousness, and Chuck D for his empowering voice and profound subject matter.

Smooty has a solo EP available now entitled "Tame The Dark," as the initial response & press feedback has been extremely positive.
