The Sandskrit Boogie The Sandskrit Boogie

This song starts off in an Eastern style then gets wicked for awhile. Finally the band surfs off to an old silent film.

This is about a bad gig. It has lyrics. Everyone loves lyrics.

It starts off surfy, then a driving distorted part, then an ambient intermission, then a gut wrenching metal finale.

Experimental

Sinister Moustache performs cinematic nightmarish orchestrations. Their music is progressive, mostly instrumental rock with a shape-shifting, film score style quality. Their latest album explores a variety of musical genres, from jazz, to ambiance, to metal, to surf, as it weaves a tale similar to a symphonic opusbut with contemporary rock instrumentation (guitar, keys, effects, drums, bass.) Their dynamic compositions swap between strange and atmospheric, dark and brutal, to absurd and cartoonyreflecting influences such as King Crimson, Faith No More, Frank Zappa, The Melvins, Herbie Hancock, Danny Elfman, Martin Denny, Raymond Scott, and Nintendo Music. The Super-Sargasso sea is a theoretic place where lost things goand supposedly the source of objects that fall in anomalous rain phenomena. Sinister Moustache chose this as their latest album title as a reference to the unusual combinations of styles and sounds that make up the work. However the album is not abstract or extremely avant-gardeit follows song structure and appeals to the common listener, but with such skill to make it a real treat for the discerning listener
Band/artist history
Sinister Moustache has been together 9 years, formerly known as Gravy. We've toured the southeast extensively and opened for many major national and regional acts, including Hellblinki Sextet, Consider the Source, Mastodon, Hellzapoppin Sideshow Circus, Dark Tranquility, Orange Tulip Conspiracy, God of Shamisen, Daikaiju, and more. The variety of bands we have performed with is a testament to our versatility; our style is unique and touches on a variety of genres--so we can be placed on metal bills, progressive rock, and creative/experimental shows. Though we have metal aspects, we also incorporate jazz, eastern, ambience, sound effects, and anything else that comes to us when composing. The changing of styles has been compared to a movie soundtrack, which shifts through scenes and emotions. We have received a lot of press and favorable reviews. We were voted second best metal band by Connect Magazine (first place went to Baroness.) We were featured on National Public Radio/GPB as an up-and-coming progressive rock act. Our latest album, Songs From the Super Sargasso Sea (2008) was recorded at Jam Room Studios (Band of Horses, Kylesa, Black Tusk, Baroness, etc)
